CBD Medical Director, VALO Living
We are pleased to have Dr. Michael Jonesco, DO as CBD Medical Director of VALO Living.
Dr. Jonesco is a leading Sports Medicine doctor, working with both professional, collegiate and amateur athletes. In his practice, he manages a wide range of conditions that affect the modern athlete, ranging from orthopedic injuries, cardiopulmonary disease, mental health and wellness issues.
Dr. Jonesco's particular interests focus on maximizing performance, acute musculoskeletal injuries, management of chronic arthritic pain and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle for all. He is an active member of both regional and national sports communities, presenting regularly at national and international conferences and forums.
Dr. Jonesco carries a large clinical load at an academic institution within the Midwest. His clinical practice is founded upon the premise, "We are all athletes" and as such, he sees a wide array of ages, abilities and pathologies.
Outside his clinical time, he is a Head Team Physician at the local, collegiate and professional level, managing hundreds of elite athletes and covering the full spectrum of issues within the world of Primary Care & Sports Medicine.
Dr. Jonesco's medical training started at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. During his training, he grew an affinity for osteopathic manipulative techniques and learned the value of non-traditional treatment options to complement his traditional training. While completing his Internal Medicine Residency at Indiana University, he came to understand the complexities of treating the entirety of the patient and how to deliver evidence-based care.
He was then accepted to the prestigious Cleveland Clinic for his Sports Medicine Fellowship, where he focused on musculoskeletal and medical issues in the athlete. While there, Dr. Jonesco contributed to the care of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Indians (with whom he continues to work with today).
As the world of Sports Medicine has evolved, so has the need to continue to educate and fine tune new skills in his field. Dr. Jonesco has continued to develop new procedural skills to add to his tool belt, allowing him to provide a broader arsenal to fit the needs of individual patients. As such, Dr. Jonesco has been recognized by his peers within his institution as well as nationally, being named to Castle Connolly's list of "Top Doctors" for the last three years.
His clinical style is to provide a holistic approach to the individual patient, allowing his patients to lead their treatment with in-depth physical-led education. As a former college athlete, he understands the need for care not only in the time of competition, but for the plethora of injuries that can derail the ability to be active throughout his or her lifetime.
Dr. Jonesco lives in central Ohio with his wife, Cherissa and their three children. He maintains an active, but balanced lifestyle through ongoing athletics and time spent with family. He is a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, regardless of the pain and anguish it has brought him.
